Rose at Duke Mansion

Rose at Duke Mansion
Caran d'Ache artist crayons on paper

I love visiting the Duke Mansion garden in Charlotte, NC. I photographed this rose and couldn't resist painting it with wax crayons. Love the effect.

Wallflowers

Wallflowers
Acrylics on 6"x6" stretched canvas

I saw these flowers along the outside brick wall at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte Botanical Gardens. They give wallflowers a good name. Such delicate beauties!

Daylily Outing

Daylily Outing
Acrylics on 6"x6" stretched canvas

There is a kind woman who allows the Plein Air Buds to paint the day lilies on her property. Her whole backyard is filled with them in all varieties and colors. I love going there! This is one of her gems. I don't know its name but it had me at... "yh-ellow."

Young and Green

Young and Green
Acrylics on 6"x6"x2 1/2" wood cradle

This was painted from a photo taken of my first tomatoes that popped out last summer. I never tire of the thrill of seeing them form from seeds to small plant to flowers to that beautiful small green ball. They've been through a lot at this point but they are still green and have a ways to go. I wonder sometimes, "Am I still green?"

Ended up giving this work to wonderful friends in the carpet cleaning business. They discounted the work to the point I thought they were making nothing on the deal. Darryl, of Carpet Pros, liked this painting, which I was using to paint a duplicate in oil. So I gave it to him! I still got a great deal.
